Ampersand and Company is the work of Tim McLaughlin. Tim lives in Vancouver and on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada. He has been active in experimental radio, hypertext, graphic design, and writing. In 2004 he began to explore photography in a concerted way and in 2010 he began laying the groundwork for his first formalized project, building an outdoor studio to be used for a series of portraits.

In 2013 he began Image on Paper a series of reviews of books and exhibitions.

This site contains links to published works, and some excerpts from journals and design projects. It is a bit of a cross between a marshalling ground and an archive. Sometimes a fragment has such a halo of potential about it that it can exist in its own space. That is one of the reasons for Ampersand & Co. - to acknowledge the beauty of the fragments.

Together with Charllotte Kwon, Tim is also the editor and director of a series of documentaries on textiles produced for Maiwa Handprints Ltd. These have been screened in Hyderabad, India, the musée du quai Branly, Paris, and the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. He continues to work for Maiwa as an editor, writer, designer and photographer.
